How Different Does Your Life Look?

How Different Does Your Life Look?

Spread the love

Believers in Christ are told that we are a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come. That is the purpose behind being baptized. But how different does your life look from others around you?

“…Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them…This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:14-15, 17‬ ‭NLT

In today’s world it can be difficult to believe, act and speak differently because when you do, you are attacked for being unaccepting, hateful and unkind. However experts share that when Peter wrote his first and second letters included in the Bible, believers in that day struggled with the same issues. According to Dr. Henrietta C. Mears in her book, What the Bible Is All About, “The Christians to whom Peter is writing we’re suffering ‘fiery trials’ from people who did not believe in Jesus. The Christians would not join their pagan neighbors in idolatry and drinking and lust, so they were called haters of the human race and were classed with thieves and murderers.”

Sound familiar? But there is hope! Our home is not this world so we need to cling to that truth and the promise that the enemy has been defeated. No matter how difficult it gets here, we are to continue to live as ones who know the truth of Christ’s sacrifice for us, do our best to model how He lived here on Earth and rest patiently in the truth of His never-ending and abundant love for us.
