Me and God Day

Me and God Day

Spread the love

Do you ever have “Me and God days?”

Days when you don’t want to get up but desire to lie in bed all day listening for a word from the Lord?

I had that feeling the last time it rained. The rain sounded like it was singing a heavenly melody. I stared at the ceiling as I listened to the thunder then said softly, “Speak to me in the thunder as you did with the Israelites at Mount Sinai.”

I probably would have been frightened out of my wits if the Lord had spoken to me via thunder just as the Israelites were. But I wanted a ‘Word’ from the Lord.

Do you sometimes feel like God is speaking softly to you in the thunder as you sit quietly before Him?

That morning I thought I heard in my spirit, “Stay where you are.” I had been asking many questions about the future. “Where do you want me to be? What do you want me to do? Who do you want me to minister to?  Where do you want me to live?”

A quiet voice whispered, “You will be blessed because you are seeking me first. All of the things you are requesting will be given to you if you continue to put me first, to seek me with all of your heart, and do not serve any other gods – money, man, power, success, or ministry.”

An overwhelming peace engulfed me.

I lay in bed and spent hours in His presence.

That ‘Me and God’ morning filled me with the love of God. I sensed the presence of Jehovah and experienced the peace of God.

Today, we (me/you) will let our spirit listen for God and not pay attention with our natural ears.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

 Isaiah 26:3 (ESV)

  1. God knows I’m too much of a wiggle worm to stay in bed for a me and God time, but I have a favorite corner chair with Bible, books, and journals. Some mornings, we ignore the devotionals and journaling, and I just sit and enjoy conversation with my Lord.
