Frazzled Because of Love

Frazzled Because of Love

Spread the love

It had been a stressful day, filled with worry. I tried expressing my feelings in a text to my daughter-in-law, but it came out kind of disjointed. I apologized for my inability to sound coherent in my mentally-messy state. Her reply: “It’s all good (((hugs)))… We just get frazzled because of love, don’t we?” Followed by a wink and a heart.

That summed it up. As women, we pour ourselves into the lives of those we love—worrying and wondering, praying and encouraging, caring and giving. Sometimes, at the end (or beginning!) of the day, we feel a little frazzled…because of love.

What has you frazzled today? Job stress, marriage tension, worry over an illness, a wayward child, finances? Let’s take some time to unfrazzle together. I picture an ad for hair conditioner—a “before” picture showing frizzy split ends and an “after” pic of smooth, sleek, shiny hair. Let’s do a little deep conditioning today.

A friend of mine put this picture on our Bible study Facebook page this week with the caption, “Let’s continue to soak in, yes saturate ourselves with God’s word!” Don’t you absolutely love the visual of “saturating” in God’s word as it pours over our brittleness?

Soak in these words today, letting God’s love, mercy, grace, wisdom, and truth sink deep, smoothing out the split ends and ragged edges of your soul:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28,29

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8

May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Psalm 119:76

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Praying you feel a bit calmer, smoother, and less tangled and frazzled by the end of the day.
