Behind the Sin

Behind the Sin

Spread the love

Jesus came to save.

To restore His people to the Creator. And before He returned to heaven to prepare a way for us, He told His disciples to reach people.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:19-20 KJV

And they did.

But as time passed, we (Christians) have become the Pharisees of our time. Quick to point out sin. Quick to slap a scarlet letter on those who dare darken the doors of a church. We point. We ridicule. We stick our nose in the air and condemn. We have ears that do not wish to hear and eyes that do not wish to see.

“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” – Matthew 7:3 KJV

We see the sin and starve the sinner with our piety. But that is not the commission Jesus left us with. We are to see the people behind the sin. We are to love on them as Jesus has loved on us.

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” – John 13:35 KJV

Perhaps we should love more considering we’ve already accepted the gift He so graciously offered. And for the backslider, we should run to them with open arms the moment we see them in our view.

Why have we hardened our hearts to those in desperate need of love? Love God’s way. One that keeps no record of wrongs. One that does not rejoice in iniquity. One that looks upon a people and is moved with compassion.

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” – 1 Corinthians 13:5-7 KJV

We have allowed the world to dictate who deserves our forgiveness. We have allowed our flesh to rule, forgetting our own sins that have been forgiven. This month and days forward, seek to love others God’s way. Love them by giving them the same measure of comfort you received in your sin from the One who washed it away.
