You Are a Shield Around Me

You Are a Shield Around Me

Spread the love

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about God’s protection. I ask him for protection against evil, wrongdoing, misunderstandings, health problems, and sometimes even myself. Whatever it is that could harm me, I ask for protection.

I didn’t always do this. I used to ask for protection when I saw something negative or wrong. But I realized that I can’t rely on my own knowledge, my own perceptions like that. I have to rely on God to protect me when there is something going on that I should avoid and I don’t even realize it. I admit, especially now that I’m older and wiser, that I don’t know everything, and that’s okay. God does.

You are a shield around me, O Lord, my Glorious One, who lifts up my head.

To the Lord I cry aloud and He answers me from His holy hill. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

I will not fear … Arise, O Lord! Deliver me, O my God!

(Psalm 3-7, NIV)
