What Really Flows From Your Heart?

What really flows from your heart? Does it bring life or death to your life and those around you? Do you influence your environment or does it influence you?

The heart is the core of your being. Everything you do flows from it. What you carry within you is what you give out. Your heart is a spring, water flows from it. The nature of a spring is to water the environment around it. Wherever it is, there is always a difference as long as that spring carries pure and fresh water. The trees and vegetation around it are always green and fresh. Even during the time of drought, those trees remain green and healthy. It’s because water is life and it gives life and it’s this life that we all need.

Your response towards life is influenced by whatever fills your heart. What makes a difference in your life and in the world around you is the condition of your heart. The external environment does not influence someone’s decisions, actions or results, the internal environment does. Even the words that you speak, are influenced by the condition of your heart.

A healthy tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a poor tree bear good fruit. Every tree is known by the fruit it bears; you do not pick figs from thorn bushes or gather grapes from bramble bushes. A good person brings good out of the treasure of good things in his heart; a bad person brings bad out of his treasure of bad things. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of (Luke 6:43-45) GNT.

They say that you cannot give what you don’t have and this is true. Many people have been hurt more by other people’s words than by their actions, many have been discouraged, beaten down and humiliated by what other people have said than by what they’ve done. These hurtful words are as a result of what fills the hearts of those who speak them. If a person’s heart is full of bitterness, that person cannot speak kind words. On the other hand, if a person’s heart is full of love, that same love will be extended to others.

No spring of water pours out sweet water and bitter water from the same opening. A fig tree, my brothers and sisters, cannot bear olives; a grapevine cannot bear figs, nor can a salty spring produce sweet water (James 3:11-12) GNT.

Now, if we want to live meaningful lives which are healthy and fruitful, we must desire to have “healthy” hearts. The kind of hearts that always flow the springs of life. A simple solution is to let Jesus have your heart. When God has your heart, He has control over your life. It’s His presence that makes all the difference. If your ‘spring’ carries the kind of water that brings ‘death’ to you and the world around you, then the presence of God in your heart will change it. The water in your ‘spring’ can only remain pure and fresh if God is at the center of your life. This way, it will give “life” to others. But if God is not there, the water will either get contaminated and bring “death” to you and your surroundings or the spring will just dry up and drought will take over your life. #BeWise
