A Tale of Two Shoes

A Tale of Two Shoes

Spread the love

Exhibit A (on the left): My old running shoes. My toes busted holes in them because I thought I was still a size 8. I was running with sore toes and thinking something was wrong with my feet.

Exhibit B (on the right): My new running shoes. They are a size 9.5, but my feet are size 9. I went to the running store, and the sales person sized up my feet and examined my gait. My foot arches in when I walk and so I need extra stability, something else I didn’t know. She recommended these size 9.5 stability shoes because feet swell when running.

I tried on my shoes and they felt roomier, and my feet were more supported. There wasn’t anything wrong with my feet. I was wearing the wrong shoes.

Have you been walking through life thinking something is wrong with you? Or have you been told something is wrong with you? It can be for any reason.

The truth is: nothing is wrong with me. The problem lies with the “shoe” I stuffed my foot in. It was too constricting and painful and small. Now it’s time to wear bigger shoes, shoes that also give me proper stability and support.

Do you need to step into a bigger plan for your life? Do you need to step into a bigger mindset? How will you be stabilized and supported as you expand?

  1. What a neat analogy! Yes, I’ve definitely had times when I’ve needed a new set of shoes. Times when my whole mindset needed redirection and the new view became amazing too. Thanks for the post.
