There are times when our life resembles a battlefield. Utter chaos seems to rein around us. Sickness prevails. Finances collapse. Relationships are collapsing. In the midst of it, we’re left standing there with a decision to make.

Do we wilt or do we press forward?

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
– Philippians 3:14 KJV

It’s in the midst of battle, that I’ve been surprised by my own actions. When I believed I would wilt, I discovered an inner strength.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
– Philippians 4:13 KJV

All of us have our breaking points. Not the kind that allows us to wilt. To fold under pressure and give up. No, the kind where we say “enough is enough.” We refuse to cry. Refuse to throw ourselves pity parties. We refuse to let the enemy have any control in our life. That breaking point allows us to realize Who we belong to.

I believe this is what Paul meant as he pressed forward. He certainly hadn’t arrived. Hadn’t accomplished his goals in life. But he wasn’t going to let life defeat him. He wasn’t going to let the enemy claim his life and turn from God. He refused to look at the chaos in his life and instead chose to remember the calling of God.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…”
– Philippians 3:13 KJV

God calls all of us to the kingdom. We all have a chance to be saved and have our sins washed away. When we accept that call, we’re His. No matter what goes on in this life. But living a called life is a decision we have to make on a daily basis. When we accept the call, we’re choosing light over darkness, and that’s a daily battle. No, He wants so much more for us then for us to remain stagnant.

Press, friends. Press through illnesses. Press through heartache. Press through financial difficulties. Press through whatever the enemy throws at you. God will be with You.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
– Isaiah 41:10 KJV
